Bikini Kill have come up with a great idea
http://www.arthurmag.com/2010/02/09/the-story-of-bikini-kill/
We would love to do something similar for the Raincoats. In the absence of anything more structured right now, if any of you have any stories PLEASE write them and send them to us in the comments section. We’d love to hear any stories, however small or insignificant they may seem.
Picture, photos also welcome…

Recording with The Gluts.

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Spent the weekend in a recording studio…. haven’t done that in a while… recording with Hayley and Kaffe and lovely Sherry Ostapovitch was engineering. We thundered through so many songs I’ve lost count.
I’m doing a phone interview with a Japanese magazine today. All The Raincoats albums are coming out in Japan on P-Vine and we are going to be touring there in June I think…. never played there before so we are really excited about that.
Knitted another 3 bags this week… Can’t stop knitting. Discovered that Kelley Deal has the same bug. Knit one pearl one… and knit again…

Loved reading Just Kids… brillliant.
Watching Mad Men and just trying to watch Desperate Housewives online but failing to find it.
I seem to be feeling hungry a lot recently. Is it the cold weather or am I trying to eat myself sane?

Freak outs and bags and Poland

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Hayley, Kaffe and I had a great cathartic freak out in a tube train carriage which we filmed for our Gluts film. Exhausting and exhilarating, we all really enjoyed going crazy. And it looks fantastic in slow motion!
I am editing the video of us (our Cafe Carbon project) in Copenhagen and London, right now, and it will be screened with a performance by us three in Newcastle on the 13th March and at Cafe Oto on the 17th in London.
When I take a break from this I am knitting furiously making bags for my Birch Bag collection!!
Ana and I did an interview with a lovely Polish man on Monday evening. He told us that various Polish bands namecheck The Raincoats as being a catalyst for punk, because of our visit there in 1978 when we played three shows at an International Performance art festival…. the first western rock band since the Rolling Stones to visit Poland!!
